ماژول ESP-12F دارای چیپ وای فای ESP8266 است که از طریق این ماژول میتوان به اینترنت از طریق کامپیوتر و تلفن همراه متصل شد و با دنیا ارتباط برقرار کرد. چیپ ESP8266 به دلیل پردازش بالا، ذخیره سازی اطلاعات و همین طور وجود پایه GPIO که این امکان را فراهم می کند که بتوان با سایر دستگاهها ارتباط برقرار کرد، بسیار پر کاربرد است. همچنین می توان از طریق گوشی های موبایل که از فناوری WiFi پشتیبانی می کنند به این ماژول وصل شد و دستوراتی را به آن ارسال و یا دریافت نمود.
این ماژول شباهت زیادی با ماژول ESP-07 دارد با این تفاوت که قابلیت نصب آنتن خارجی را ندارد و آنتن آن روی PCB نصب شده است.
نکته: با توجه به چینش پایه ها، این ماژول قابل نصب بر روی برد بورد را ندارد.
