مبدل DC-DC یا به اصطلاح DC-DC converter مبدلی است که جریان DC یک منبع را از یک سطح ولتاژ به سطح ولتاژی دیگر تبدیل می‌کند و ولتاژ خروجی می‌تواند از ولتاژ ورودی بیشتر یا کمتر باشد. مبدل Buck نوعی مبدل DC-DC کاهنده است که برای کنترل سرعت موتورهای DC استفاده می‌شود. ماژول رگولاتور کاهنده مدل AMS1117 دارای ولتاژ ورودی 4.5 تا 7 ولت و ولتاژ خروجی 3.3ولت می باشد که از جریان خروجی 800 میلی آمپر برخوردار است.

Description:
Converting a higher DC voltage to a lower one is a common requirement found in most electronic circuits. This might be something like converting the 12V from a battery down to 5V in order to power an electronic board. A portion of that 5V may be further converted down to 3.3V to drive a lower voltage portion of the circuit. It is a class of switched-mode power supply (SMPS) typically containing at least two semiconductors (a diode and a transistor, although modern buck converters frequently replace the diode with a second transistor used for synchronous rectification) and at least one energy storage element, a capacitor, inductor, or the two in combination.
The AMS1117 is a popular SMD package 3-pin voltage regulator that is available in many models for fixed and adjustable voltage requirements. The IC can deliver a maximum current of 1A and the output voltage can vary from 1.5V to 5V.
On-chip trimming adjusts the reference voltage to 1.5%. The current limit is set to minimize the stress under overload conditions on both the regulator and power source circuitry.
The AMS1117 devices are pin-compatible with other three-terminal SCSI regulators and are offered in the low profile surface mount SOT-223 package, in the 8L SOIC package, and in the TO-252 (DPAK) plastic package.
