After sharing the sensor, all of the shared users will receive the alert about the condition when someone opens the door. The sensor is 3M adhesive installed, easy to move and remove. It can work just fine upside down and sideways, as long as the magnet is less than 5mm from the sensor, which makes no difference how the sensor is located. It’s battery operated and has a low power consumption that ensures the battery life can last up 2 years.Sonoff DW2 is the new version of the phased out Sonoff DW1 RF door/window sensor, and is compatible with Sonoff's smart home product line. Includes two parts: one to be fixed on the door / window, the other part to be attached the door/window-frame. When magnetic connection in-between is lost, an alert signal is sent by the device on the open event.

Unlike SmartWise DW2+, it can only detect opening of the door or window and trigger other smart devices, it does not detect close event. At open event it sends an alert signal to RF Bridge (or relay switch with RF receiver), therefore a switch action can be defined as action in eWeLink's Smart Scene feature.

Connects to other Sonoff smart devices - e.g. lights, relay switches controlled by the sensor - with wireless, 433.92MHz RF (radio frequency) technology via Sonoff RF Bridge and SmartWise RF Bridge gateway, no need for wiring. Power supply is given by one 27A type (12V) battery, (not included).

Via eWeLink app you can receive alert on the open events to your iOS/Android smartphone, so you may also use it as a simple alarm. When alert function is activated, alert is only sent to owner's eWeLink account, alert cannot be sent to shared accounts.
